Labor Day Weekend

Our “home” has finally been completely repaired as of last week!  Class A RV Repair did a very good job and we are more than pleased to have the trailer travel worthy again.  The repairs were complete before the holiday weekend, but we opted to sit tight so as not to deal with crowds or hassle finding availability on such short notice.  Plus, our current site is very economical and I am always up for saving a penny or two.  Furthermore, I had to travel to Houston for my treatment on the 10th, which was another deciding factor to remain in Pipe Creek another week.

Labor Day weekend is notoriously busy for many families as they get that one last camping trip in for the year or spend it with friends barbecuing and picnicking.  However, due to COVID-19, your holidays probably looked a little different this year than previously.  We, too, tried to make the most of the holiday while practicing responsible social distancing.  Mom and I began our weekend Friday with a movie marathon of A Star is Born.  The Movie channel played the 1937, 1954 and 1976 versions.  Mom even showed up in her PJ’s as the first movie began at 9:30 a.m!  Friday evening the four of us attended a comedy show at a local bar in Bandera.  Thankfully, it was an outdoor venue and we were able to maintain a safe distance from the other tables.  It was a fun time.

The initial plan for Saturday was to attend the Bandera Rodeo that night, but the weather was not cooperating and we didn’t want to take a chance of getting rained on.  Sunday, after brunch, we finally busted out our bicycles and took a short three mile ride in Boerne.  We have been wanting to go riding with everyone since my parents arrived, but it has been too hot to tolerate being outside.  Although it was short, it was great to get out and enjoy the scenery.

Monday, my mother and I visited a local antique shop just up the road.  We found a couple of treasures we just couldn’t live without!  I enjoy roaming antique stores as it affords me a window to the past.  Oh the stories those items could tell!
