Arkansas

Boy, have I really been slacking on blogging. Not sure why I have not been as motivated to post. I guess I get a little disgruntled as I don’t seem to have a large following and not sure how to market my blog. When we left Colorado, we made our way through part of Kansas and then cut through Oklahoma. We didn’t spend too much time here; however, we did swing by Monument Rocks National Landmark and Dodge City in Kansas. Who knew there was more to Kansas then just hundreds of acres of prairie? Nonetheless, Kansas is still mostly flat, flat, flat! And after seeing dozens of cattle feed lots, I am more committed to giving up meat. I just can’t support that anymore.

For the last two weeks we spent our time in Arkansas with our eldest son. He joined us for a hike one day, he took us shooting another, he came for dinner each night, and he and his father went fishing once. And our Thanksgiving was spent with him and his friends this year. It was nice to meet some of the young men he has befriended. I am so glad he is doing well. Al and I went sightseeing and visited the Little Rock Central High School which is a National Historic Site. It is the site of the integration crisis of 1957. I really enjoyed learning more about the incident and our history. How courageous the Little Rock 9 were. But alas, it was time to leave.

Back to Texas

Here we are back in the Houston area. Tomorrow I return to MD Anderson for my tests to see if my treatment is continuing to work. For the most part, I am at ease and do not have too much anxiety. I put my faith in God. However, I received news today that two ladies who were part of the Metastatic Breast Cancer group in Las Vegas passed in September. I had spoken with them both in June and they were doing fairly “well” in spite of being on a new chemotherapy regiment. Hearing this today is a reminder to me just how quickly things can change. This disease is vicious. It is ruthless. I hate this disease.
