Last night, I was not able to post a blog because I was working with my brother on fixing up this site to make it prettier! Be patient with me folks as I am not a technically savvy person. As my little bro says, “It’s a learning opportunity!” But I have been excited to share about our day yesterday in the Door Peninsula. We opted to stay another day due to the incident with Cody. By-the-way, he is doing just fine; in fact, we have to keep he and Cooper from wrestling. Although there are times he looks defeated as he has to wear the ‘Cone of Shame.’ Anyways, it rained all morning; therefore, we did get a slow start.
We decided to head to the east side of the peninsula as we had yet to explore this area. By the time we arrived at Whitefish Dunes State Park, the sky had cleared, permitting for a lovely (and dry) hike to Old Baldy which is the highest point in the county. The Fall foliage is beginning to set in, surrounding us with greens, yellows and burgundy.
Cave Point County Park
The highlight of the day was the awe-inspiring, jaw dropping, wave crashing Cave Point. We were so captivated watching the waves roll in from Lake Michigan and crash against the limestone cliffs. Both of us agreed we could sit there all day and watch as the coast line is battered by one wave after another. The roar of the waves as they crash against the rock reminds you of the power of Mother Nature. There is a rush of excitement as spray from the water shoots up and over the top of the trees, surprising an unsuspecting onlooker. We witnessed a few folks get splashed! There was even a wedding proposal today.
We were told that on a sunny day, if the wind is blowing hard, the waves are even bigger. And if you catch it just right, you can see a rainbow through the spray. Our visit came to an end as the rain began to pour. Al commented it was the best part of our visit to the area. I must agree.
Awesome photos, Sis. That first one with you standing on the peninsula is great! I would be afraid that a sneak wave in back of me would hit======Yikes.
I definitely kept an eye on the waves coming up!
